Ugandan Schools

Quarterly Visits

Asia Kamukama, our Uganda Director, visits each school that you support four times a year. She meets with school management and administration to see how they’re using the supplies you donate, conduct reviews, manage transitions to different levels of Sister Schools’ support, and answer questions, as well as arrange for annual supply distributions.  Asia’s favorite part of the visit is watching  young scholars learn and play using materials donated by children and families in the US. Asia recently visited Ntawo Primary School and shared this report.

“The balls really helped the students practice for the ball games competition.  I walked into a writing lesson [in Primary 2] where children who did not have composition books of their own were given ruled papers to use, instead of being sent back home to buy books.” Being sent back home to buy a composition book would usually mean that the child would be out of school for a week or more, while her or his family scraped together enough extra to buy the required scholastic material.
