Meet Carol

As a retired elementary school principal, Dr. Carol A. Coram brings wonderful insight and expertise to our Board. The only challenge is keeping up with her: she’s a competitive runner and triathlete who competes on the world stage.

Carol is originally from White Plains, NY, but has made Seattle her home for the last 30 years.

Carol first learned about Sister Schools when she came across a Board recruitment email highlighting a number of local nonprofits. “Although I was just looking for the fun of it,” she explains, “I came across Sister Schools.  It piqued my interest because I am an educator.  After reading about Sister Schools on their website, I decided to make contact because the mission intrigued me.  I applied and the rest is history!”

Her long experience working with local school districts is a huge help to our Board, as we position ourselves to expand to reach more Seattle students in the coming years. Her ties to the nonprofit community are also deeply appreciated. As a Rotarian, and experienced cancer research advocate, she brings many ideas around fundraising events and community engagement.

When she’s not busy helping her community thrive, Carol is busy competing and officiating in track and field and triathlon events. She has raced on Team USA at five triathlon World Championships and was recently inducted into the USA Track & Field National Officials Hall of Fame.

Carol brings the same drive and passion that she brings to sport into her work as a Board Member. She says that it is our mission and the team we’ve built that keep her excited about the work. “I am most delighted about serving on our Board,” she says, “because it affords me the opportunity to work with diverse individuals with whom I share common beliefs, goals and truly believe in the mission of Sister Schools.”

If you, or someone you know is interested in joining the Board of Directors, we are always looking for talented people who are willing to serve. Please contact governance@sisterschools.org for more information.
