Today the fun begins. We start distributing the extraordinarily generous collection of school supplies, teacher resource materials, arts and crafts supplies, balls, shoes and other items you and your communities donated last fall. Last week was preliminary video work and interviews; today we bring photo items to Mother Care and Kyetume Primary schools. Each school will greet us formally, with speeches, songs and dance. The proud Head Teacher or an outstanding student will give us a tour of their facilities from office to garden, from classrooms to kitchen.
After the formal portion, we’ll take photographs of Ugandan students receiving the same items that children in the US had their photos taken with. Terry will match the best to create the famous “picture pairs,” the heart of our return presentations in May and June. We still don’t have the container, so the bulk of your donations will be distributed later.
