What we do
Sister Schools is dedicated to giving children a better understanding of the world in which they live and helping them experience the life-changing effect of personally giving to those less fortunate than themselves.
Through pictures and stories, the overwhelming difficulties faced by children in Ugandan schools, and orphanages, is made real. A school supply drive is then organized and students are encouraged to participate in ways that are meaningful to them. Both new and used items are accepted.
After the gifts are distributed in Uganda, a return presentation is given showing our local school children the direct impact of their specific gifts. Our children see the difference they’ve made in another child’s life.
Opening eyes. Changing lives.
Why a Supply Drive
Our first year supply drives are a great way to teach students about the needs of others and their own ability to help. Every child is moved to respond to the needs they see in a different manner. Sister Schools supply drives offer as many unique opportunities to give, as there are children.
Both New and Used
Every child gets to choose to participate in a way that’s meaningful to them. Some scour their homes for used items while others find ways to make new donations. Children are encouraged to consult with an adult and each child takes a personal role in choosing what to give.
A Way to Connect
Our spring return presentation shows students the impact their decision to get involved has made in another child’s life. In a very personal way our children learn that they, no matter who they are, have the ability to create positive change.
